If the air conditioner won’t get used for an extended period of time, dry the air conditioner to maintain it in its best possible condition. Clean the product regularly to maintain optimal performance and to prevent possible breakdown.
Checking and managing filter condition
➔ Check the filters of the respective products.
Filters with additional functions such as deodorization filter and TVF [total virus filter] may vary in applicability among models.
Some filters are NOT to be wash with water and require filter replacement in regular cycle.
➔ Filters are considered consumables and should be replaced with new filters when lifecycles of previous filters deem exhausted even within warranty period.
Go to LG Electronics online [Parts & Accessories] portal to order replacement air filters.
Turn off the power to main air conditioner main head unit. Then, unplug the power cord from the wall current outlet before cleaning the air conditioner.
Cleaning air-conditioner filter
Note: Removal methods of filters of wall-mounted air-conditioners vary depending on the front panel assembly types.
Front location of the panel [front location of filter]
- Push the front panel up, and remove the ultra-fine filter.
- Clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner, or a soft brush.
- If it is severely contaminated, wash it in water using a neutral detergent.
- Dry the filter in a well-ventilated shaded area away from direct sunlight to remove moisture, and then reassemble the filter.
On the top of the panel [top location of filter]: Filter on the top air intake vent
- Push the front panel up, and remove the ultra-fine filter.
- Clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner, or a soft brush.
- If it is severely contaminated, wash it in water using a neutral detergent.
- Dry the filter in a well-ventilated shaded area away from direct sunlight to remove moisture, and then reassemble the filter.
Note
Customers who have registered their air conditioner product on the LG ThinQ app can RESET the filter by accessing the app under Useful Features > Filter Management > Reset Filter (refer to below screenshots).

Cleaning the inside of the air conditioner [heat exchanger]
- After removing the filter by referring to instructions on how to separate the filter, dilute some citric acid in the ratio of 3g (0.1oz) citric acid for 1000 ㎖ (35oz) water and spray the diluted citric acid properly on the indoor heat exchanger.
- Next, set the minimum temperature (18°C)(64.4°F) for the cooling operation and operate the air
conditioner for 30 minutes or longer.
- Odor causing particles that are inside the product are discharged out of the product in order to reduce odor.
※ Do not use air conditioner cleaning agent, cleaning solution, or fragrant deodorant from stores or any other retailer/contractor or any entity for that matter.
Failure to do so may damage the product or worsen the odor.

If you use the LG Electronics service, a professional service technician will visit your domicile to inspect and diagnose any issues with the product, then perform phased cleaning services in accordance with the level of contamination.
The cost for the service will vary depending on the level of contamination and the related extent of cleaning required, from simple filter cleaning, non-disassembly cleaning, blower fan disassembly and cleaning, through to complete product disassembly and cleaning.
